SERIAL is a collective platform and multidisciplinary exercise to create and confirm industry related hypothesis through design projects. We asked ourselves how would it be to produce without a factory and to export design without a transport. The Personal Interpretations collection is our answer to this, each of us explored SERIAL’s manufacturing model ending up with a line-up of products of various complexities following similar design cues. This manufacturing model consists on partnering with FabLabs and makers around the world to produce and sell licensed products with known technologies and local materials.

Seki stool (seki = seat) takes its aesthetic language from the simplicity of Japan and its high-quality craftsmanship. It proposes to be a non-leading object that creates an emotional connection when used. The break on the surface is an unexpected characteristic in a bench that generates curiosity. The angled surface is born from a straight surface that bends at the pressure point of sitting, this tempts to draw the silhouette of the body which creates the feeling of surprise as well as making you feel comfortable and sit in a straight position. The contrast between the angles and the rounded edges invites you to feel and touch.
