Monterrey is nationally recognized for its mountains, often called La Ciudad de las Montañas. The city of Monterrey is located in a valley colliding the Sierra Madre Oriental, a large mountain range in northeastern Mexico. Due to its location, Monterrey is in the middle of a privileged place full of biodiversity and impressive scenery of ridges formed by this mountain chain full of reliefs, the national park Cumbres de Monterrey.

Among the natural icons of the city we can find the Cerro de la Silla, followed by the mountain chain where the Chipinque Ecological Park and the La Huasteca Ecological Park, the Cerro de las Mitras, among others.

Montañés are a series of indoor panels that abstracts this unique topography composed of series of ridges. These distinctive ridges are represented by basic geometries, vertical rectangles for the height, and angles for the top of the ridge.

A feeling of depth is created by a green to blue gradient, colors that occur in this mountains depending on the distance from the observer. When they are close the color is perceived green, the further away the color turns blue.
